Why Dad Moves?
If you’re a dad reading this, you don’t need me to tell you that being a dad (especially a new dad) is TOUGH.
People tell you this, yet nobody can fully prepare you for the severity of the challenges as a parent.
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE being a dad - I’m convinced it’s the most special role you can play as a human (aside from becoming a husband), but it comes at a cost.
One HUGE sacrifice I realized I would need to make early on for me was how often I could move and be outside.
Before kids, my life was chock-full of outdoor hobbies. Even with a desk job, it wasn’t too difficult to make time for any of the following:
Surfing, running, weightlifting, hiking, cycling, spearfishing, the list could go on.
But as soon as my son entered the arena - my hopes and aspirations to move and get outside daily began to dwindle.
If I had 4 hours of free time each day before my son, it’s now about 1.5 hours.
The hours I do find to move are before or after the sun has already gone down.
I’m guessing if you’ve made it this far, you’ve experienced something similar.
Since becoming a dad, I’ve realized that if you want to build a daily movement habit, it takes at least 10x more intentionality and discipline than it did before.
Dad Moves is an attempt to share inspiration, encouragement, and community with dads who are tired and busy, yet determined to still make space for movement in their life.
While it’s a daily fight, I believe that if you are willing to shift your expectations, get creative, and be relentless in making it happen - you can find a sustainable and effective daily movement habit with even just 20-30 minutes of free time.
I also believe you can build up to a more advanced daily movement habit over time, but it’s essential to start small and build off of something simple.
My vision for Dad Moves is to build a community of like-minded dads fighting together to build a daily movement habit so that we can show up as a better version of ourselves for the main priorities in our lives: our wives and our kids.
Why Now?
My heart breaks when I read all the statistics about how unhealthy Americans are, and unfortunately, men seem to have it the worst.
While the stats can be daunting, I sincerely believe we as men are designed to be strong, sturdy, and resilient.
However - our lifestyles are not designed for us to feel this way.
Given we don’t live in a nomadic hunter-gatherer tribal society, most of us will spend the majority of our working days stationary, indoors, on computer screens…
After a day of work, we’ll go home and help play with our kids before bedtime, organize and tidy up the house, and maybe spend some quality time with our wife (if we’re not already half-asleep).
There is so much misleading and unhelpful advice out there for workings dads, and very little helpful, encouraging, reasonable advice for dads with a ton of responsibility.
I’m starting Dad Moves now because after living through the challenges of fighting to build a daily movement habit, I’ve learned so much that I would have loved to share with myself at the beginning of my journey.
Also - I realize how important it is to get encouragement and advice from other like-minded dads who are in a similar position. SO, selfishly - I NEED more dads in my life who are also serious about this.
If that resonates with you, I believe now is the right time for us to connect and walk down this road together.

1:1 Coaching
The vision I have for Dad Moves is to eventually be in a position to coach dads 1:1 who are new to this idea or have not had success trying to find a daily movement habit on their own.
I realize as a man how hard it can be to ask for help because you likely already know in your head everything you need to do to get to where you want to be… I get that. But I sincerely believe I can help you on the journey and want to be in your corner to make finding a daily movement habit a reality.
So if that resonates - I’m available to work with dads who are very serious 1:1.
